Overview

Every point earned or spent in ClassCents is tracked through the transaction system. This provides complete visibility into student behavior patterns, earning trends, and spending habits.

Creating Transactions

Awarding Points (Most Common)

1

Navigate to Transactions

From your classroom, click TransactionsAward Points
2

Select Recipients

Choose one or multiple students to reward
3

Enter Details

  • Amount: How many points to award
  • Reason: Why they’re earning (required)
  • Category: Optional classification (e.g., “Behavior”, “Academic”)
4

Submit

Students receive points immediately - they’ll see their balance update in real-time

Deducting Points

Use for fines, purchases, or behavior consequences:
1

Select Deduct Option

From Transactions, choose Deduct Points instead of Award
2

Select Students and Enter Amount

Same process as awarding, but amount will be subtracted
3

Provide Clear Reason

Especially important for deductions - students need to understand why
Use deductions sparingly! The system works best when focused on positive reinforcement. Consider deductions only for clear rule violations or as “fines” students agreed to.

Transaction Categories

Organize transactions for better analytics:
ClassCents includes standard categories:
  • Behavior: Positive behavior rewards
  • Academic: Homework, tests, participation
  • Role Payment: Automatic job payments
  • Reward Purchase: Student purchases
  • Badge Bonus: Achievement badge bonuses
  • Manual Adjustment: Balance corrections
  • Auction: Auction wins and bids
Use categories consistently to generate meaningful analytics about what earns students the most points.

Bulk Transactions

Award points to multiple students at once:
1

Select Multiple Students

Use checkboxes to select all recipients
2

Enter Shared Amount and Reason

All selected students receive the same amount for the same reason
3

Submit Bulk Award

Creates individual transaction records for each student
Bulk awards are great for class-wide rewards: “Everyone completed homework - 10 points!”

Access complete transaction history:
  • Classroom View: See all transactions across all students
  • Student View: See individual student’s complete history
  • Date Filters: Filter by day, week, month, or custom range
